http://community.victoriaadvocate.com/home/Blog/Anaqualady/5215 I live in Rockport but read the online edition of the Victoria Advocate every day.  Since I use to live in Yorktown and do most of my business and shopping in Victoria I am familiar with the area.  My oldest daughter along with my grandsons live and work and go to school in Victoria. Living in Rockport is nice.  We still have to go to Corpus or Victoria for any major shopping and it has been that way for years.  If you have the money you can just sit around here and fish and golf until the cows come home.  That is not my case - I only wish it were.  I work for a living as most of us do.  If I get a chance I do a little poor boy fishing - from the dock or banks.  I love to fish and I love to eat fish.  We have the standard HEB and  WalMart here.  I sometimes think of what it would be like if we had more of a choice.  Years ago I remember Super S and Handy Andy somewhere in the coastal bend but no longer.  If we don't like to shop at the above mentioned stores - then too durn bad! I use to rememer a little grocery store on the back streets of Victoria (Laurent?) but can't seem to remember the name of it.  Wonder if it is still there?  So we continue to live in South Texas and shop and play where we can.  Does anyone care any longer about what We want or where We would like to shop or are we just being  guided like sheep to the places they want us to go?  Am I the only one that this bothers? Or Albertson's? I am from Shiner and there were a couple small grocery stores there I used to shop at. I miss that when I am at Wal-Mart or HEB and I wish there was a small store here that could compete with the big stores (price wise). My husband and my kids and I were in Rockport a few weeks ago for a mini-vacation. We spent one day there and I really loved it. Weather was gorgeous and it was nice to get away. We went to that little beach there. We also drove through Key Allegro. If only I had millions of dollars to live THERE!
