The fan favorite Ballcrushers are optimistic and excited about the upcoming season.</p> <p>Many new teams have joined the Crossroads Kickball Association and the Ballcrushers square off against two of them tonight in the Bad News Bears at 7 p.m. and Mayhem at 8 p.m.</p> <p>In addition the team has new players, Allison Miles and Loren &quot;Neo&quot; Erwin. If you recall in the spring season we had a come from behind victory over them. <br /> <br /> This game, we jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on them in the first inning. Our kicking has gotten better and Wes' feet are just awesome on the ball. They crept a bit closer as the game went on but we held on to win 4-3 when they had bases loaded in the final inning. We made a good save people.</p> <p>Big Golden Game Ball to Aprill Brandon for getting around the bases, not once, but TWICE!</p> <p>Slightly Smaller Silver Game Ball to Wes for enabling the scoring.</p> <p>Little But Powerful Bronze Balls to everyone else...and to our loyal groupies braving the cold to cheer us on.</p> <p>Nick continued his awesome pitching. He had to ice his wrist after the game, let's hope he and everyone else is ready for the Triple Header next week.</p> <p>The first game was winnable but a few mental errors knocked us down, though undefeated I don't feel the Big Ballers were playing any better than we were last night.</p> <p>We have a winning streak now! Although the other team had help from Mr. Magoo's brother, Mullet Magoo, who called the game with a hat pulled low over his face.</p> <p>But it wasn't a bad outing, we were kicking, getting on base and fielding was OK. Beer was consumed, laughs were had which is most important. Not one, not two but three back-to-back-to-back kickball games.</p> <p>They finish the season against the Podunk, a team that always seems to do well and frankly kicked the crap out of the Ballcrushers in the winter and spring of the past. But it's a new season and these are new Ballcrushers.</p> <p>It will be fun and exciting and frankly all the Ballcrushers are ready to go out and well...crush balls.</p>

Sure it was a crazy idea last year when talk spread around town about an adult kickball league. <br /> Kick-what?<br /> Yes that game you used to play at recess in elementary school and in PE class. </p> <p>But it proved to be fun, exciting and a way to get to know friends and co-workers and show a bit of personality.</p> <p>Advocate employees fielded a team known as the Ballcrushers. They struggled in the inaugural season, winning their only game by forfeit, but still having fun. In the spring season they were hampered by injuries and bad umpire calls, which may or may not have been conspiratorial, to finish with a 2-6-1 record on paper, that they know is a 3-6 record.
