The man first refused to sign a traffic ticket.  He was then ordered out of his vehicle and told that he was being arrested for refusing to sign the ticket.  He got out but decided he was going to re-enter his car after repeatedly being ordered to stop and was finally tased.    It’s my understanding that traffic tickets contain a statement to the effect that signing it is not an acknowledgement of guilt, but only an acknowledgement of the receipt of a record describing a violation of a traffic law. This acknowledgement protects the violator by preventing the issuing officer from later adding other charges or “making something up.” The violator IS required by law to sign it or risk arrest.   This amateur lawyer apparently felt that he didn’t have to obey a lawful order until he was given an explanation for being pulled over that satisfied him. He must have gained his knowledge of the law from watching too much TV since he claimed that the officer was also required to read him his rights.  No so! That is NOT required at the time of arrest.  Perhaps Danny Crane or some other legal beagle can share some insight here.   texson1986 opened the door to my rant by asking >” Is this justified in your opinion?”<   How can I reply to this without causing offense?   To my mind, the officer should have aimed his taser so that the “prongs” would have been embedded in this self-righteous, Politically Correct jerk’s hind quarters and then pushed the “Discharge” button repeatedly until the whiner’s butt was too sore to sit down for a week!   It just amazes me that people don’t think that they or others  should be held responsible for their actions!   Texson1986 also mentions that <” The part I really find interesting is how the officers all think the situation is so amusing.”<   Yeah, I found it to be rather funny too, as the officer might have been motivated to shoot the "perp" in the leg. When it comes to law enforcement, unless your civil rights are being violated, just do as you are told. Even IF you think something is wrong, just try to cooperate anyways...if you are a suspect of some allegation and you are unsure just tell them you need to speak with your lawyer. It's not rocket science, it is commen sense. You never know. Like you said to make sure it is in the back or back side. Since there was no violence maybe the pepper spray could have got the job done okay without the shock effect first.
