<itunes:summary>I was shocked to see the political cartoon in today's paper. There was finally one that took a jab at the left side of the aisle. I almost spit my coffee out from disbelieve. I can't remember the last time the paper wasn't taking a swing at Bush, McCain, or the right in general. Is this a sign that the Advocate just might be going to be a bit more central in it's reporting and editorials. That would be a great signal to those of us that have been subscribers for most of our adult lives that can remember when it used to be a fair and balanced paper that did not look like the Houston Chronicle in the mirror.

The cartoon reflects exactly one of my previous blogs that I posted a number of months ago about the absolute necessity to start drilling off our shores and in ANWR and the Dakotas. I believe anyone with any common sense know why Pelosi doesn't want it. She's just like Teddy boy, it might spoil their beautiful view. Their statement of use or lose it is absolutely asinine. There is probably nothing there to drill for or the oil companies would have already drilled for it.</itunes:summary>

An Addendum To The Astros Disaster Saga

                <itunes:summary>In response to one of the comments on my blog on McLaine and his bumbling GM Wade, you an add the signing of the dope head Tejeda or Tejada whichever is the correct spelling. If you've been following his latest episode of walking out on the ESPN show, then acting like he had to come clean to his team later. What a joke! These are the types of players that are signed for millions? Conseco even mentioned him in his fiasco book. The management should have known not to touch him w/a 10 foot pole, but not the Astros.

Also, in respone to the comment made about Wagner and having Lidge, Qualls, etc., where are they now? We all know about Lidge after the St. Louis debacle in the '05 playoffs while Wagner continues at the top of his game. In fairness to Lee, he does drive in runs, but again pitching wins pennants, not hitting and there was no guarantee he would sign w/the Cubs who seem to be doing just fine w/out him. As far Oswalt, I believe he's back on his game while I mentioned Rodriquez was going on the DL and there's no one else except maybe Backe who is coming off a year and a half of being out from surgery to even resemble a major league pitcher. Chacon is a castoff who might win a few, but not over 10 games. I repeat, the $ that was spent on Lee and the dope head should have been spent on pitching. Oh well, miracles do happen.

Astros Disaster Again!

                <itunes:summary>When will McLaine ever learn? When the club wouldn't pay Billy Wagner what he deserved as the best reliever in the club's history they traded him to the Phillies where he continues to be one of the League's best closers. We never say die Astros fan who have followed them since they were brought into the League in '62 will probably go to our graves w/ner a World Championship. I even name my fantasy baseball team each year "The Astros Will Win Before I Die".

Look at this year: This Valverde guy has to be the worst closer in the League even if he did lead the League last ear, but if you checked his statistics closely they were terribly misleading. Then this Wade GM, who the Phillies fired, also signed the washed up Oscar Villarreal and look at his record or should I say losing record and performance so far.

Last year McLaine made what I thought was another disastrous move in signing Carlos Lee for over a 100 million bucks and he hasn't exactly set the Minute Maid cracker box on fire. Any true baseball fan knows pitching wins pennants and look at the pitiful Astros staff outside of Oswalt, and look how he started the year. Maybe that was a premonition of the '08 season and of what the year was going to be. Hopefully, the team can turn it around, but w/Rodriquez looking like he may go on the DL and the rest of the pitching staff so weak, it may be the year of the cellar.

It's time for Drayton McLaine to finally either to spend some of that billion dollars he has or sell the club to someone who will. I'm not getting any younger.</itunes:summary>

                <itunes:summary>
It is really amusing to read some of the comments each morning in the paper. There are some individuals who continually email in or write letters to the paper who absolutely have no earthly idea how our government of checks and balances is set up to operate. You read dozens of letters or messages that continually blame President Bush from the problem with the housing market to the extremely high cost of fuel.

I believe that the Legislative Branch has stalled any new drilling off our shores other than the Gulf and won't allow any exploration in ANWR where there is a known reserve. Also, with previous administration appointees on all levels of Federal Courts, we have seen the results of their known liberal agenda where they have legislated opinions instead of carrying out their Constitutional duty of interpreting them.

It is obvious that before people write these uniformed opinions, they should at least get some basic knowledge on how our American system of Constitutional Democratic government actually should be carried out.
