If you've got an interest in the weather and would like to make a difference, now is your chance.
The National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi is looking for a least 100 volunteers to record rainfall in its forecast area from Victoria to Kingsville and west to the border. Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Metz with the weather service said the network already has 65 volunteers.
The weather service will supply official, free rain gauges while the supply lasts. These gauges typically sell for $20 or more.
In return, volunteers are asked to report rainfall by Internet to a national network each day at about 7 a.m. The information will be used to develop drought and flood forecasts.
