Trying to find planets, constellations and other stellar gems in the busy night sky can be intimidating at times for the amateur.
Fortunately, through the wonders of the Internet, there is help available. Several Web sites offer free star charts to help you find your way around in the dark.
Typically, all you need to know is your zip code, which is used by the Web sites to come up with your latitude and longitude.
One of my favorite star maps is provided by the Weather Underground. It's a simple, easy to use map that shows the major features.
Another comes from Space.com. The neat thing about this one is that tabs on the right allow you to view the night sky for an Earth or a Moon perspective.
Get online and try them out. Let me know what you think.
