How long do you keep food after the "sell by" date? Rusty was less than humble questioning the parentage of the coworker who threw out a perfectly good 2/3 gallon of his milk. "It wasn't any good, the date had expired." "What the hell's the matter with you? That's the SELL BY DATE!!! It can still be good FOR DAYS. If it was bad I'D have thrown it out. Y'all just wanted room for all the stuff  you put in there while I was gone." I don't know how of the polled coworkers were just taking up for the subject of my tirade but several admitted that they always threw out food after the "sell by" date. One even said that he "wasn't gonna get sick from drinking "that old milk". Where did this practice become common with some people?   Before refrigeration? Old wives' tales. Superstition?
