Truth is, that when it comes to voting on salaries and benefits for District employees, Dr. Jaynes has a conflict of interest and faces an ethical dilemma.
Truth is, my opponent can’t vote unless he wants to change the existing practice observed by board members who have family members employed by the District.
TASB senior attorney Holly Klaghorn agrees that Jaynes would be able to vote, but says whether he does or not is an ethical decision he’d have to make for himself.
I applaud the ethical choice made by other members to refrain from voting on issues that put public funds in their own pockets. I would make the same choice were I in their position. What choice will Jaynes make?
This campaign is about effective and ethical leadership for the future of VISD. I have been an effective and impartial voice for District 5. No hidden agendas, no special interests.
