What happened to M. Night Shyamalan? I recall a time nine years ago when he was being hailed as the next Spielberg. The Sixth Sense was a Best Picture nominee, if you don't recall. He followed that up with Unbreakable, a highly underrated film about superhero mythology (long before people lauded the television show "Heroes" for the same concept). Since then, it's been a long, uninspiring slide downhill. The buzz on his career used to be lightyears ahead of any other young directing talent. Now, his motto should read: "to mediocrity and beyond!" After the lackluster Lady in the Water, it appears interest in Shyamalan began to wane. Two years later, he comes back with The Happening, and it splashes down with all the ceremony and subtlety of a trip to the restroom. I'm talking about good ol' number 2, and...
