I don't know about Filley's record in prosecuting sexual offenders.... but if you look at the DPS website, there are plenty registered sex offenders in the Victoria area, so it's highly possible Filley facilitated their convictions. I do know for a fact that Filley was tough on Hot Checks!
I don't have an opinion on who defends Ratcliff. As a former prosecutor, I am certain Mr. Filley knows what the best possible strategy will be. I am, however, uncomfortable in Mr. Tyler prosecuting this case. I think that he should follow the judges' example and request a special prosecutor. I would not hold it against him at all. This case is so tangled up with the prosecutors office, VPD, SO, former prosecutors, etc., you'd have to have a score card to see who's who.
