PC was not a a twenty-two old, brand new teacher just out of college. At twenty nine, he would be expected to be mature enough to recognize that becoming involved with underaged girls would be considered ethically and morally reprehensible no matter how physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially mature he thinks they are or how they act.
Laws proscribing adult sexual relations with minors are on the books because minors tend to be lacking in the necessary life experience that leads to sound judgement in their choice of behavior.
His actions also showed how much he valued his relationship with his own children and the affect it could and will have on them. If proved guilty, he will have the title "registered sex offender" following him around forever and pretty much precluding any future opportunities to coach or teach.
