I, quite frankly, am extremely disgusted at some of the responses from residents of Victoria and the surrounding areas. I understand that there are people of immense faith in these areas of the country and county, but yet doesn’t Christianity and the majority of society teach tolerance? Doesn’t Christianity teach the Golden Rule? “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” I attended a very reputable Catholic school and high school for the majority of my school years and not once, not ever, were we taught that we as a people were meant to push away and segregate people of different race, sexuality, or gender. We learned to get along and accept all. We also learned that the Bible is a guide to live by, and we must remember that the Bible was inspired by God, not written by God himself, so it could include the persuasion of prejudice of the early Hebrews and Christians.
