Magnum, your arguement is weak. If this affidavit is in fact the same kind of paperwork officers are already signing, then what is the holdup? Sign the affidavit and get on with the job. Many of us in our own line of work are faced with the same kind of redundant paperwork everyday. So that brings me to my point. What is the REAL reason officers won't sign it? Because David Smith says not to or because they will be responsible for presenting an "honest" and "thorough" case to the DA? I've read all three versions of the document and it DOES NOT say nor imply what Mr. City Attorney is telling the public.
Denny Crane, Chief Ure greatly inflated the number of declined cases his office has received from the DA, which is certainly an error on his part. Just one example as you asked!!
