Hello Freethinker.
Communism is officially atheistic. Marx, one of the founding fathers of communism, called religion "the opiate of the masses."
Are all communists atheists? I think to the degree that communism has tried to wipe out religion in the heart of man, one can say most communists are atheists, and any that are "believers" don't dare expose that belief.
Are all atheists communists? Nope.
The point is that when man gives human rights to the state- as it does in atheistic communism, the state is quite cold, calculating, utilitarian, and often mirrors a dictator's state of mind. Stalin was the one I chose to use- his form of government tried to eliminate religion from the country, and did so with despotic means.
BTW, it's a myth that Hitler was a practicing Catholic. He WAS a Catholic, but left the Church in his early adulthood, as Church teaching did not gel with his ideology. Catholics who are "good" Catholics don't...
