I am proud that our State Senator has the political courage to stand up and say when something is not right in state government. In this partiulcar matter, Senator Hegar is standing up to the Governor of Texas who also happens to be a member of his own political party. Very risky! But it seems that our Senator thinks putting himself in harms way and risking having the Governor veto a bill or two is worth the price of standin up and doing the right thing. I found especially ironic the fact that both Senator hegar and the Mayor Armstrong's Op/Eds appeared in the same paper and on teh same day. They could not have been further apart in so many regards. Hegar's was a well-reasoned explanation of why he was taking a course of action and what steps led him to take those steps. He pointed out abuses, a lack of trasparency, and a total disregard for the will of legislators, and even more importantly, the constituents they represent.
