Here's my question...How do we explain to our children that they are to trust law enforcement officials and that they are to trust in our LEGAL SYSTEM when we allow these things to go unpunished? Our son is 13 years old and has a lot of questions concerning this case. He is also upset at the outcome. It's all over the news and in the newspapers so it's not as if we can just avoid the issue, nor would we choose to paint the picture of a perfect society but this is just unacceptable. We cannot trust the people who are put in office to protect us. What type of society is this?
It's also a slap in the face for all of those law enforcement officers who work so hard to protect us and would never consider doing harm or performing such sinister acts. I wonder what the overall feeling is at the Sheriff's Department. Not the public statement but the actual gut feelings of those who worked with the ex-sheriff.
