"Here's my question...How do we explain to our children that they are to trust law enforcement officials and that they are to trust in our LEGAL SYSTEM when we allow these things to go unpunished?"
Why would you want to teach your kid to trust law enforcement officials? No well-meaning parent should ever teach kids to trust someone until that trust is earned, no matter who it is (and especially not someone in a position to abuse that trust the way a cop is).
