Hello, I'm Becky Cooper, the local editor for the Victoria Advocate.
I joined the Advocate staff on April 1, 1985 as a general assignments reporter. Over the years, I covered several beats but the best was being the bureau reporter for the Cuero bureau-it allowed me to get out of the office, see what was going on in a four-county area. I went to a lot of great places and met a lot of people.
In July 2000, I joined the ranks of editors as regional editor. I have been city editor, now known as local editor, since July 2005.
I live in Yoakum with my husband Gary - yes, he is named after the movie star.
So with the nature of my work, plus living 40 miles from the office I am on the road a lot. There is a lot to see along the highways, county roads and gravel lanes.
