I guess so because the ignorance continues; No they don't ask the defendant to defend themselves pre-trial. He has not been found guilty he was just CHARGED with the crime. And do you really think I could walk into the police department and say Justiceforall is a big dumb dumb head and they would come arrest you. It doesn't work that way. Once they get the accusation they investigate. Hence the 14months that followed the accusation.

It's troubling to see how many want to believe Ratcliff's innocent until proven guilty because he's an upstanding member of this community. These same people want to lock up the rest of us ordinary people on the word of another upstanding citizen. I just got the best news anyone in Victoria can get. I get to leave this wonderful city. OK. The charges have been made. Are going to take the word of the victim without any response from the defendant? That's scary because someone who didn't like me (or you) could make accusations against us and we wouldn't get a chance to give our side of the story. That's all I'm saying. If some of the people had their way, Mr. Ratcliff would have been taken out and shot as soon as the victim spoke. Haven't we gotten better than Mob Rule? NO! Give THE VICTIM a break! Because someone is handsome or beautiful has NOTHING to do with Sexual Assault! We are not taking about "having sex", we are talking about sexual assault with intimidation and threat of life. There is no infatuation, just my opinion. How do you know he is guilty? Do you think we should just hang him now or should we let him be tried in court? And again a great Victoria Advocate Reporter, presents a story that is totally unbiased and untainted by personal opinion...or should I say popular opinion. So just because people in power have been pedophiles....then Mike Ratcliff is guilty? Come on....talk about faulty reasoning...didn't you learn anything in your Journalism classes. I thought reporting was supposed to be "unbiased"? Just because one Catholic priest molests an alter boy does not mean that every Catholic priest is molesting alter boys, and believe you me there are more pedophiles in the files of people who are not in positions of power than those who are....it's just that when it comes to those people....and those children.....reporters don't really care!
