He was a sick individual. Shame he didn't just kill himself instead of the family. They were good people.

RE: Fraiser Case - I don't remember exactly, but he was angry with his parents over something... I think he was in trouble in Waco or at school... I remember hearing that this young man had been in therapy for some behavioral problems or something... but that is not gospel truth, just what I remember hearing at the time.

The young man did plead guilty and was sentenanced to prison.

justice and dntbah8tr - as I stated, there is no explaination for the bloodhounds going to B's house other than it could have been a cold trail... after all, Ms Blackwell had once dated him... it's logical that his scent would still be at her home. The general public is not privy to that sort of information...

Grimsinger's dna was found at the crime scene! it was corroberated by the discarded cigarette butt he threw out the window!

As far as the whole episode with Sheriff O'Connor having Power Of Attorney over Buchanek's affairs, that was investigated by the Texas Rangers. They found nothing inappropriate there! And as far as I am concerned, I don't believe that Mr. O'Conner was involved in any cover up in the Ratcliff case! I believe that the Sheriff was subpoenaed to muzzle him... so he wouldn't go public with any information or talk about the case. Not that he would be so irresponsible as to jepordize an ongoing investigation.

I believe that in the matter of Ratcliff, the truth of the matter will come out in court. However, I don't see any real justice in this case as it is going now. Tyler needs to appoint a special prosecutor and request a change of venue so that the defendant receives a fair trial, and an appropriate, airtight, verdict is given.

Not that I am siding with Ratcliff, but I seriously doubt there could be any jury pooled that would be unbiased in Victoria County.

You can get a cigarette butt or maybe 2 from the same person without them committing murder. We are talking about a cover up. It is not only suspicious that the dogs went 5 MILES to this lady's ex boyfriend's house, but it just so happened to be a captain of the Sheriff's departments house who was also a person of interest in the case. There is no explanation for the cigarette or the 5 mile trail. How come one of these men is in jail if they have the same amount of evidence against each of them? Ask O'Connor if he has / had power of attorney at any point in time for the Sheriff's captain???? or if he has any personal friendship with him?

The bloodhound went to the house in question. As I remember, a 2nd bloodhound also went there. How is that explained?

dntbah8tr - to my knowledge, there has been no other explaination about the bloodhounds going to Buchanek's house except for a "cold" trail. The dna from the cigarette butt was used to match dna from the crime scene. I don't remember why the police were focusing on the Grimsinger kid, but I am sure they had evidence or a tip and the dna matched, so....

As far as this case is concerned, the facts will come out, Carol... everyone in this town has known for years that Mike Ratcliff is a homosexual. But that is not a crime. His alleged crime is sex with a minor. Yes, these charges are coming 10 years after the fact, but there is a lot of shame involved when it comes to sexual assault. Especially on a young boy. I mean honestly, what 13 or 14 year old boy wants to come forward to say that another man performed oral sex on him at gunpoint. That boy would have been ridiculed at school unmercifully! and victimized further. Maybe he did tell someone, but that person didn't believe him, or laughed or blamed him.... We don't know. He had his reasons for keeping the secret for so long. Thank God for Hope of South Texas and other entities like it!

Carol's attitude is one of the major problems in Victoria. People just go along and accept things without asking questions. This attitude is the reason characters like Ratcliff can continue their crimes.

Carol, If I am correct Ratcliff as well as you and me did not go to Memorial High School. It was either Victoria High School or Stroman High School. You are out of line by saying the advocate is "small town". At least the advocate sees it necessary to report the fact as they are given, not hiding them. This was a child at the time of the incident, are you saying that it was ok? Let me tell you a child molester is a that plain and simple. He just did not think he would get caugt. He was paid to serve and protect not endager!!!

His parents had been divorced for a long time and he was never troubled by that. Explain the 5 mile bloodhound trail from the Sheriff Captain's house to where they found the woman's body...the only dna evidence used to arrest Grimsinger was a cigarette butt found at the scene.

darlin64:RE: Sally Blackwell - The investigators on this case have reason to believe they have the right person in custody. Although these are not hard-core facts, it is rumored that Grimsinger killed Blackwell because he blamed her for the breakup of his parents marriage.

I heard the same thing about the Blackwell case.

RE: Fraiser case - The Frasier boy borrowed a car, drove from Waco late one night, killed the family dog, killed his father, mother and brother, set fire to the house and drove back to Waco. How was the case solved? The investigators questioned witnesses, one of which recalled seeing a car being driven by someone who looked alot like the older boy. I do not believe Ratcliff did any of the actual interviewing....

Frazier case was where kid around 19 years old drove down from college and murdered his father, mother and brother. Then he set the house on fire to cover the crime. Really terrible thing that happened.

Ratcliff just investigated the case. Probably someone called crimestoppers with a tip to get it solved. Here is a link to the details.

Thanks, tripletmom. I don't know why I don't remember hearing anything about that before now.

Concerning Ratcliff, what some people need to realize is that it is possible for people who are twisted to accomplish both good and bad. Yes, Ratcliff may have done some good deeds while in office. (Would he really have been re-elected twice if he hadn't?) However, if it's proven that he is guilty of what he is now being accused of, the good won't necessarily out-weigh the bad. In fact, just the opposite; he won't be remembered for the good he accomplished as sheriff, rather his criminal offenses will overshadow the rest of his life.

Would anyone care to shed some light on what the "Frazier case" is about? This is the second time I've seen this referenced in comments pertaining to news articles on Ratcliff and I am clueless as to what this is all about?

Obviously the person who wrote the letter to the editor is a moron. I wonder who is so ignorant about Victoria to say that they went to Memorial High School with Ratcliff that cares so much about giving this guy a break? I know it seems like making something out of nothing, but if you say something that makes absolutley no sense (to give yourself some credibility), then give a guy kudos, people will wonder.

ShureeleeUjest... why my credibility? I was quoting from the letter to the editor. Please reread my post. I am saying that NO-where have I read that the Victim is a mudurer. I did not say Ratcliff was, I just asked if the author of the letter to the Editor was insinuating that. I hope I have cleared up things AND yes, I too know that Ratcliff did not graduate from Memorial since it has only been Memorial for a couple of 2 to 3 years. I want the Victim in all of this to be protected.

Yeah Carol,

Remember that it wasn't too many months ago that the Advocate's idea of hot news was to run a front page story, above the fold, about the terrible shortage of butlers!

It was so heart rendering, that I was prostrate with grief for several days. (:>b)

Sorry, Carol, but not many people share your feelings. I for one certainly have not found the Advocate (yet anyway) to be conducting "small town" journalism. If such an event were happening in NYC, you can bet the New York Times would be conducting surveys, conducting interviews, etc. This is journalism pure and simple - not "small town" journalism. Victoria isn't some "sleepy" little town any more. It's grown up and it has opinions. And those opinions are being voiced.

RE: "I knew Mike in high school (Memorial High School), and got to know him, along with the deputies and detectives who worked so hard on the Frazier case. A murderer is off the streets forever because of his actions; also, remember that one of the parties in this case is a known murderer".

Just WHO is the KNOWN MURDER in the Ratcliff case, lady? YOU need to stick to the FACTS. Unless you are refering to Ratcliff as a murder, the Victim was a child and NO WHERE has the Victim been refered to as a murderer.

I knew nice people in high school, too, and some grew up and didn't turn out to be such upstanding citizens. Things happen, people change, good guys can go bad. AND THAT IS A FACT.
