Mr erniecash,

Did we read the same letter??? The letter I read was about the work a counselor did at a local school and nothing was said about wipping out the race card.

Do you have a few problems that you just wanted to make public? Or are you attempting to show us your superior use of "big words"?

I went to a so called Guidance Counselor one single time when I was in school. That person made it very clear to me that I had little or no chance of succeeding at anything. There was no attempt on his part to guide or offer any positive suggestions. It was a 20 minute morale destroying conversation. I'm not looking for any sympathy here, as my life has been pretty good. I can however remember this idiot telling me that his time was better served with other kids that were worthy of his efforts. LMAO, thats some pretty good Counseling eh???
What are the odds of a 7th grader coming out of that counseling session with any kind of positive attitude?

OK, that's enough of tstorm5's poor, pathetic life, LOL!

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone, you too ernie.

The powers that be can analyze this situation until the proverbial cows come home. They can (and probably will) apply all manner of mandated ratios and race-related "solutions." I predict that in the final analysis though, the only significant change in the statistics will be the result of doctoring the numbers rather than any meaningful improvement in the results.

Rather than risk being Politically Incorrect and seeing this rationale for what it is - nothing more than an implausible excuse for doing poorly aimed at relieving those sub-par students (and/or their parents) of any personal responsibility. Dodging responsibility for any and everything these days, it seems, has become a national obsession. "Playing the race card" has become a handy shoe-in excuse in many situations simply because very VERY few in this "enlightened" society would dare question it for fear of being labeled bigoted, prejudiced and racist.

Wether appropriately applied or not those labels are anathema to anyone in a public position and more often than not would make a pariah of anyone even in private life. We're so attuned to NOT offending anyone who even mentions race, creed, color, religion, etc. as an excuse for anything short of rape, plunder and murder that it's become the automatic go-to ace in the hole for any unfortunate situation for which we don't particularly want to 'fess up to having made a monumentally poor decision.

My concern, I guess, is for the poor native white, anglo-saxon gang member who keeps getting ISS (a joke) for mouthing off in class. What does he have to blame his failure on?

I don't give a tinker's dam if you're white, black or beige; Catholic, Jewish, or Taoist; Canadian, Asian or whatever someone from Saturn would be. If you want my respect, do the best you can do and learn to admit, "Boy, I screwed up that one!" once in a while. Quit demanding that *I* do something differently so *you* can succeed. Of course the rules can change when change is called for but it's wrong to approach any system with the preconceived notion that it's *your* fault that *I'm* failing.
