Obs....perhaps you may want to research before you speak.....according to public statistics, DeTar actually has more "no pay" patients than CMC...."Citizens sees all the indigent patients".....that is a joke! The patient in an emergency situation goes to the nearest hospital and in most cases this is DeTar. To qualify for true indigent care is near or next to impossible and due to the stringent gov't regulations hospitals do not dare to transfer a patient who qualifies for indigent care to the County hospital for fear of reprisal for an unstable transfer. It is easier to swallow the bad debt. On top of that CMC as the county hospital has a cap on what it can be sued for and does not pay taxes like DeTar. Dr. Chandna and his group choose to do most of their procedures at DeTar because that is the hospital they are most comfortable with; the other group of cardiologists prefer CMC. Is that a problem. I think it is absolutely fantastic that we have someone who can do this surgery here....be thankful!

Who are you to say what I do or don't know. I know alot more than I care to say out of respect for the medical community in general. I laugh because people are so ignorant as to question WHY they have to go through alot of procedures just because "the doctor says so".
Looks like he tried one at CMC. After that went well, Detar got the other 35 ??? Don't be so blind. I'd love to see the payor mix from THAT list.

If you knew what any doc has to pay for malpractice premiums, his cost for equipment and staff, the hassles he has to endure from insurance companies, the medical boards, medicare and the rest, I don't think you would begrudge him the right to make a living. I don't know him but these are the general things medical practitioners have to put up with these days.

Dr. Chanda is a great cardiologist, but he is also a great businessman. So are his partners. No I do not have heart problems, but I do have relatives that have heart problems. Ones that would not be here if it were not for Dr. Chanda. But after he has saves their lives now we all endure sitting in his waiting room for hours and hours and hours for follow-ups that are probably not needed and are fully paid for by Medicare.
So don't come back snarling at me for a simple observation that he got his certification to be able to make extra money by being the only Dr. in town to do this. Good paying patients and insurance go to his clinic; indigents go to CMC. These surgeries are probably done at Detar to scratch Blanchard's back. Who's the heart hospital now ?

Let me guess.....you with all the dollar signs in your post. You definitely do not have any heart problems or you would realize that Dr. Chandna does not need more patients; he is an excellent physician with a huge practice who takes his own call and works more 20 hour days than I bet you ever even thought of; he has went to school and received training to do this procedure so that his patients and those of the other cadiologists in his group can have this procedure here in Victoria instead of having to transfer to Houston taking a risk, suffering the inconvenience and lowering their chance of survival. You obviously do not have a clue what you are talking about. I tell you what....if you need Dr. Chandna to perform this procedure on you....why don't you turn down his services here, hop in an ambulance, head out to Houston, hoping you don't die on the way.....and keep this greedy physician from getting any of your hard earned $$$$. And let's not even mention the procedures the physician is going to do for free because the patient has no insurance or money and he/she presents in an emergency situation.
