Again, I'm not going to take a side on the gay rights issue, but I would like to ask the following of the Victoria Advocate--

In the spirit of 'God loves everyone, but hates the sin', please do not publish any headlines on your front page that reveal that anyone has broken one of the Ten Commandments. No adultery, no murder, no thefts, no children disrespecting their parents, and so on.

I never want to see "Angry, Cursing Wife Kills Adulterous Husband with Stolen Candlestick while her Children Cheered".

This is so nutty! Why aren't you people being offended over the price of gas, the war, Oprah's goofiness, and other things? If someone's sexual orientation is the only thing that gets you fired up, you need to get out of the house more.

I am not endorsing a gay lifestyle. From what I have observed from my 50+ years on the planet is that it must be a very hard way to live. But I cannot understand how vocal some folks can get over an issue THAT DOES NOT CONCERN THEM.

And, I would think that starving people in other countries, abused children everywhere, oppressed people and such would love to have some of these vocal advocates on their side. Nor can I believe how many hypocrits reside in Victoria. They quote scripture, stating how horrific homosexuality is, but forget to quote the part where Christ states: "Love your neighbor as yourself".... Christ was all about FORGIVENESS! I don't think there was anything wrong with putting the "Gay" headline on the front page.... the Christmas parade schedule is on the front page.... The MLK Day Parade is on the front page.... Cinco de Mayo is on the front page.... so why not Gay Pride Parades???? Those people claiming to be Christians need to back off the homosexuals and direct their hatred and rage toward the trully evil people in the world. Homosexuals are not evil! You know....I have to say I am surprised at the reaction to this. I lived in Victoria for 19 years and through all of them, tried to deny myself as homosexual, but I was obviously different. I was put through torment, made to feel unhuman, and basically given a very horrific view of the world....as soon as I graduated high school, I moved to another state and now know that I can never return. Does anyone need to feel that way about home?I have done several studies in college mostly for my own sake, but they don't matter. What matters is everyone is human. Everyone has a right to be the what they feel and everyone has a right to their life. True, everyone has their own opinion and belief, but their comes a time when you have to choose between selling your opinions and treating each other as humans. I have to say that now, when I think of it, I am so disappointed that a town that shows so much growth and promise for the future has made me and most likely several other natives never want to return. I can't either. And I can't believe that those on both sides of this polarizing issue call those on the other side "narrow-minded" "bigots" and "hypocrites" FOR THE VERY SAME REASONS!

Despite your shouting, this has already been hashed out. Try to keep up, willya? All OT references that are no longer binding. Those laws were "repealed" kinda like Jim Crow laws were repealed. Or do you know anything about "separate but equal" legislation. It's called History. You should study it some times. Christians do. They call it the Old Testament.

Puleeeeeze! Get off this old tired horse. I know couples who have been married since well before gay couples would have dared say they were and I know at least one gay who's had more relationships than I'd care to shake a stick at. Anecdotal evidence... isn't.

I THINK THAT YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PARENT. THERE ARE MANY PARENTS WHO WILL TREAT YOU DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE YOU ARE A HOMOSEXUAL. MY FATHER FOR INSTANCE IS ONE OF THEM. HE IS FINALLY INCLUDING MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER INTO FAMILY FUNCTIONS. WHAT PARENTS DON'T REALIZE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE FORUMS THAT PEOPLE ARE VERY HATEFUL AND SAY RUDE THINGS AND THAT IS HARD ENOUGH. This will be my last post on this subject. You know me, you know my name, I am well known in the community. My husband and I have to live with a secret because our grown son is gay.We had to stop attending church because God's people were quoting scripture up in our face. We had to drop out of many social circles because of hatred, prejudice and religious bigots. People this is our son. We raised him in a church. He was raised the correct way in a very loving happy family. It is what it is. We LOVE OUR SON unconditionally. What would you do if this would be your son? Never speak to him again.. Quote scripture to him and insist this is WRONG. When I look at my own sins I am glad my son does not judge me as I do not judge him. Accept your son unconditionally with love is the answer. By the way, you have not walked in my shoes so do not start preaching to me about homosexuality. In God's world it is Every Creation.Now, let me go and put my mask  on to hide so you homophobics can have more fun preaching and throwing stones.Guess who I am.?  I am a proud parent of a Gay son. I know that this may come as a shock, but Christianity isn't the authority on everything. This might also come as a shock, but the newspaper is for everyone. Everyone that pays for it at the store, subscribes to it, or picks it up from home or the office. Once you accept these facts and the fact that homosexuals are also United States citizens who deserve the same rights as you or me, you'll be ok. Yea, put that headline back in the closet where it belongs!!  Some straight person may see it and be offended.  Oh Lord, you opened a can of worms reporting news. It is much better to have a car wreck or a lynching on the front page, I'm sure.  Or maybe Bush in a cowboy hat pretending he is a Texan.
