Seeking distributors and agents for innovative Bike Storage System!
Rob McAlister Ltd is my own company, based here in the UK. We've been in existence for about 3 years looking for solutions to modern lifestyle problems. The Bike Cave is our latest new innovation. The origin of the product is pretty simple really. I bought myself a bike a few years ago to try and limit my use of the car and also to try and get some exercise. On returning home my wife confronted me with the perhaps obvious question of where it was going to "live". Like many people we had converted the garage into a granny annexe many years ago and the shed was cram-packed full. I was forced to store the bike in the house. Needless to say my wife was not happy! I promised her that this was just a temporary situation whilst I tried to find a solution.
I started to ask friends and relatives whether they too had difficulties storing their bikes and soon discovered that I was not alone. In fact a number of friends said that finding a storage solution was actually one of the main reasons preventing them from buying a bike.
After further market research we started to look around at what products were already on the market and found that these were all very expensive as well as difficult and time-consuming to install. It seemed to us that not everyone has room for a shed and even if you do there is the base to be built and someone has to erect it. Increasingly convinced of a potential market for a cost-effective product, we researched a number of different materials and eventually after about 10 different prototypes and two trips to China to source a good quality and ethically sound manufacturer the Bike Cave was born.
We have designed this as a simple, practical and affordable solution. It comes in a bag, easily slots together and simply attaches to a wall or fence as either a temporary or permanent storage system. Fully weatherproof with a zip up front the Bike Cave makes a very economical storage system for two full size adult bicycles, but can also be used to store garden furniture, children’s toys, the lawnmower, tools, logs, in fact virtually anything in the garden looking for a home. Measuring 79”x66”x31” (200cm long x 167cm high x 80cm deep) the Bike Cave has a height advantage over storage chests. The most popular plastic garden store on the market (sold at most major DIY stores) is a great product but it is more expensive, no more secure and is simply not big enough to store bicycles.
It is important to note that the Bike Cave can also be ordered with our optional Anka Point security bracket which provides a permanent fixing point for a padlock and chain or cable-lock to secure your bikes or other items.

This is a multi-functional storage product. Simply unzip for quick and convenient access.
It really is incredibly versatile - great for storing all manner of things, not only bicycles - garden tools, mobility scooters, wheelchairs, lawnmowers, bbq's, kids' outdoor toys, plant pots, logs, coal, compost, golf clubs, surf boards, push chairs, prams, wheelie bins ... the list goes on and on. In fact we also market the product as a mini "shed" under the brand name of TidyTent.
Please note that to solve the obvious question of security, we also sell with the Bike Cave an optional product, "the Anka Point". This comes with special "one-way" security screws that create a permanent anchor point, to which one can cable-lock one's bikes. Once installed the screws cannot be removed other than by drilling the heads off! There is a velcro detachable flap in the rear panel of the Bike Cave to allow access to the wall or fence so as to install the Anka Point.
We designed the Anka Point to complement the Bike Cave as an affordable security bracket. We sell it as an option to give customers the ability to choose what level of security they need relative to their own requirements. We are aware that there are other similar security brackets on the market although they are generally much more expensive. But at least this way customers have a choice.
The Bike Cave and the Anka Point are manufactured to our design and specification in China and we endeavour to maintain good levels of stock here in the UK. The product is protected with registered design rights in the EC, a design patent in the USA and also pending in China.
