Yes,I have been saying this for over 8 years... 12 million undocumented human beings living in the United States is unacceptable, thank goodness we abandoned the "catch and release program."

If our representatives would have signed that " 18 months of border security only" then we could have taken the advantage of the 18,000 or so new border agents graduates, biometric cards would have been in place, the employer/ Social Security database ,would have been updated, aerial surveillance could have worked out its kinks, and sensible new ideas like Don Janks could've been tried, to make border control, much more manageable...But no the Rush Limbaugh types wanted no amnesty, attrition only and got the Republican senators,to say no to a compromise.

Pretty much guaranteed that a comprehension immigration reform plan will be passed next year ,and it won't be to the "no amnesty attrition only crowd" favor..... They had their chance for a compromise, but now their representative's position has weakened.

Good ideas as well from TXBohemian and TexasHuckleberry.

I too think this is on the right track, not so sure if the temporary citizen thing will work.

Seems to me chasing down a van full of illegals and sending them back is like cutting off the tail of a snake but then sewing it back on and letting it grow again instead of cutting off the head.

Personally seeing all the money we spend on border patrol, fence & debates, INS, etc... why couldn't the powers to be come up with a "guest worker" program.
Allow these people to come and work and document them where and for how long and hold the employers accountable for their whereabouts since these employers want them here.
Allowing them freedom to come over, with proper documentation (ID, destination, employer, etc...), to work temporarily would eliminate the coyotes since that is what they do, get them here over the border for a substantial fee.
We could then tax them on their income, like us legal people have to pay.

I was reluctant to open up this thread ,because it will probably turn into immigrant basing....I just think Don Jank is doing some great thinking outside the box, and I wanted to commend him for it.... He recognizes the problem and offers a solution unlike many; who just regurgitate the same talking points without offering workable solutions. .... His plea bargain idea ,just might have some merit.
