A 31-year-old El Campo man died in a three-vehicle crash Sunday seven miles east of Yoakum.
Jeffrey McKeon, of El Campo, was transported to Yoakum Community Hospital, where he later died following a vehicle accident at 12:57 p.m. on Texas Highway 111, said Department of Public Safety Cpl. Brandon Curlee.
McKeon was the passenger in 18-year-old Cody Seaman's 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup.
Seaman, also of El Campo, was traveling east on Texas Highway 111, and was stopped in the roadway to turn into a private driveway, Curlee said.
A 2004 tan Buick Rendezvous driven by Yoakum resident Gale Schneider, 64, was traveling east in the same lane behind Seaman's truck and swerved to miss the stopped vehicle.
Curlee said Schneider's vehicle struck Seaman's truck, which spun the vehicle into the west lane.
When Seaman's truck entered the west lane, it was struck by a 2005 18-wheeler tractor-trailer, towing a 1998 tanker trailer, driven by Joe Ricky Thomas, 54, of Yoakum.
Gale Schneider and his 71-year-old passenger, Laverne Schneider, were transported by ambulance to Yoakum Community Hospital. The hospital would not release their conditions.
Seaman denied treatment at the scene, Curlee said.
No citations were given, and the accident is still under investigation, Curlee said.
Funeral services for McKeon are pending with Triska Funeral Home in El Campo.
