Jaguars split with Prairie View A&M

The Prairie View A&M Panthers snapped an 11-game losing streak to the University of Houston Victoria Jaguars on Tuesday earning a split in a doubleheader with a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Jaguars (3-1) captured the opening game 12-7 to extend their win streak to 11 games against the Panthers. The Jaguars entered the doubleheader with a 10-0 series record over the Panthers (1-1).

Emily Bergstrom worked six innings in the circle to pick up the win in Game 1, before giving way to Dawn Villegas in the seventh. Villegas came back and went the distance in Game 2 for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars will be right back in action Friday when they compete in the St. Gregory's Invitational in Grand Prairie. The Jaguars open play Friday at 10:30 a.m. against Southwestern College and then meet Southern Nazarene in a 1 p.m. contest.

UHV returns to the field Saturday to meet Northwood University-Texas in a 10:30 a.m., before finishing play against third-ranked Oklahoma City.
